Walk-behind floor sweepers

Pedestrian MACH sweepers for the floors a ride-on cannot reach — aisles, doorways, loading bays and areas too small or too busy to drive a machine through.

Sweeping you walk behind

Compact & manoeuvrableManual or batteryTight, congested areas

A walk-behind sweeper is the right answer when the obstacle is space rather than area. The operator steers it on foot, so it turns inside an aisle, works up to racking legs and pallets, and stores in a corner rather than a bay — and there is no seat, no drive line and no charging bay to plan around.

Both MACH walk-behinds sweep dry into an on-board hopper with vacuum filtration, so dust is captured rather than pushed into the air: the MACH MEP is manual, cordless and battery-free with a 730 mm sweeping path, and the MACH 1 adds 12 V battery drive across a 780 mm path and a 40-litre hopper.

If you are cleaning open floor rather than working around it, a machine you sit on will cover it several times faster — see ride-on sweepers, or the full floor sweepers range. Buy or hire.

Walk-Behind Floor Sweepers - Q&A Section

MACH MEP and MACH 1 — which one, and when

Ask a Question
01 Manual or battery — is a push sweeper really enough?

For light daily tidying over a short distance, often yes. The MACH MEP is push-powered with vacuum filtration, weighs 25.5 kg and is rated at 2,190 m² an hour, with nothing to charge and no running cost. The MACH 1 is the machine to choose when the same round happens every shift or the floor throws off more than litter: 12 V battery drive, a 780 mm path, a 40-litre hopper and around 3,510 m² an hour.

02 Will a push sweeper just move the dust around?

Not these ones. Both machines run vacuum filtration behind the brush, so airborne dust is drawn through a filter into the hopper instead of being thrown back out — which is the usual complaint about a plain brush-and-hopper sweeper. The MACH MEP uses a washable cartridge filter, so the maintenance is rinsing it, not buying it.

03 How much floor can one operator realistically cover on foot?

Take the rated figure as a ceiling, not a plan. 2,190 and 3,510 m² an hour assume continuous straight passes; a real round with doorways, turns and stopping to move pallets typically lands nearer half that. If the honest number puts your clean over an hour or so of walking, that is the point where a ride-on starts saving more than it costs.
